A Summertime Cocktail: Mrs. MPH Green Tea Delight
I was first served this cocktail by Christina after a day of wine tasting in Walla Walla. Christina and her husband Matt (MPH) hosted an amazing BBQ for all of us winos visiting from the west side and her green tea cocktail hit the spot - it was cold, delicious, refreshing and palate cleansing!
The lovely Christina
So I decided to recreate it for a small Memorial Day BBQ we hosted. The cocktails were easy to prepare ahead of time, turned out great and were a big hit. The only problem? I didn’t consume them in moderation. So be warned, you can hardly taste the alcohol and these babies are dangerous!
On a positive note, green tea has so many (supposed) health benefits including fighting cancer, heart disease, lowering cholesterol, aiding in weight loss and being chock full of important antioxidants. So when 5 o’clock rolls around, you really should indulge in the name of health.
Mrs. MPH Green Tea Delight
Green Tea, brewed (I used Kirkland Signature Green Tea)
Fresh Lemon Juice
Agave Syrup (Available at Costco)
Vodka or Gin
Make up batch of hot green tea and pour it in a pitcher. Add a few squirts of Agave syrup and mix it until the syrup dissolves. Cool in the fridge. Add fresh lemon juice and keep in the fridge until ready to drink.
When it’s time to serve:
Fill a glass with ice, add vodka or gin and fill the rest of the way with the iced green tea mixture. Top with a lemon wedge and have agave syrup available to add for those who like it sweeter and lemon to add for those you like it citrusy sour.
Warning: DO NOT CONSUME TOO MANY IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING REMOTELY IMPORTANT TO DO THE NEXT DAY.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteThis sounds delicious! I wish I had some kirkland vodka right now...
ReplyDeleteSounds great! How much vodka/gin to green tea? One shot?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question Jenny and may have been a why I over served myself ... I was just pouring it in. But I think one shot would do it!
ReplyDeleteI love a good cocktail. This one looks great. Good warning.....Most good cocktails will sneak up and you will feel it before you know it.
