Saffron Honey and Goat Cheese Appetizer

Costco is now carrying Kirkland Signature Saffron. In usual Costco fashion, it’s a steal! Plus, the jar is really darling and I’m a sucker for anything that’s pretty.

My new favorite go-to appetizer is to serve Kirkland Signature Goat Cheese with saffron honey. If you’re feeling really fancy, you can roll the cheese in toasted pine nuts first (thanks for the idea Megan!) and then drizzle saffron honey over it. It’s easy. And it’s amazing.

Full disclosure: my mom made this saffron honey, but all you do is add saffron to your favorite honey. The honey will turn a beautiful amber color resulting in a very pretty and easy hostess gift or appetizer (and everyone will think you're so swanky!). I’m sure it would also be fabulous with baked goods or in a cocktail!

Update: Here are more specific instructions: Barely heat 1 cup of honey on the stovetop and add 1/2 tsp. (or a pinch) of fresh saffron. Alternately put the saffron in hot water first and then add it to room temperature honey. Put it in a jar and the honey will be flavored and ready to eat immediately or will keep for a very long time!

  2. Wow I don't know if I've ever had saffron (probably in something) but nonetheless, this looks delicious. And now I want a cracker with a big schmear of goat cheese!
