Le Creuset Giveaway!
Ashley from Cookware.com recently contacted me and generously offered to do a giveaway via Swanky Taco Tuesday! One lucky winner will receive a 9” and 5” square Le Creuset baking dish (you pick the color!). I can't live without my Le Creuset Dutch oven and baking dishes and know you won't be able to either!
Since Ashley contacted me I’ve been browsing CSN Stores (Cookware.com) and love all the fun kitchen gadgets, pet supplies and baby gear they have to offer. They also have great furniture including sofas, I especially like this armchair and ottoman.
For a chance to win, leave a comment telling me your favorite kitchen gadget. I have many but my microplane grater is at the very top of my list! I will randomly pick a winner using random.org on Friday, June 4.
Good luck!

My favorite kitchen gadget is super duper lame but IMO the most important item in the kitchen that no-one uses. My Knife Sharpener! It's regular use assures that everything cuts easily and when you think about it you use your knives more than any other item (close with pots/pans). I have had many a time where I go over to someone's house to cook and their knives are super dull. I feel like I am putting my fingers at risk! I hope this post will let remind some people of the forgotten kitchen gadget that everyone should make use of the knife sharpener!
ReplyDeleteI recently bought a bar cutting board that I truly love! It is small, plastic, and perfect for garnishes, wedges and all things cocktail related!
ReplyDeleteMy fave has to be my egg slicer! I think I love this the most because of the memories it brings up of my grandmother teaching me how to make egg salad (my then favorite sandwich) when I was 6 or 7 years old. I still make it her way - and you just can't get it right without a slicer! It's also great for the perfect slices atop a salad! Oh, and all you have to do is try to cut hard boiled eggs without one to appreciate it's importance! :)
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, the wine corkscrew. Not one of the rabbits or winged ones, but the old school waiter style corkscrew.
ReplyDeleteMy fav would have to be my chopper. It is the best when I pull out the cookie ingredients and my daughter runs for the chopper. She says her job is always to chop the walnuts to the perfect size.
ReplyDeleteThat thing will chop anything!! Toffee for the better then sex cake...
My favorite kitchen gadget is my emersion blender......but I agree with you, microplanes are pretty awesome.

ReplyDeleteLucky duck! I wish Ashley would contact me!! :) My favorite these days is my Vitamix. It's become the second love of my life, next to my husband.
ReplyDeleteMine is the frying pan cuz that's what I use to cook. Heidis is prob her Bosch
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is simple and not as exciting as the microplane grater (which I also love) but I just love wooden spoons! I use them for making scrambled eggs, sauteeing, and of course, stirring away at a risotto.
ReplyDeleteOh my Gosh, I have so many. I love kitchen gadgets, cookware and the like but if I have to choose just one I'd have to say my small sauce pan. This baby has a lot of burner miles on it and doesn't show any signs of calling it. It makes the perfect alfredo sauce, pesto sauce, balsalmic reduction, lemon butter sauce, sauted nuts or other add ins...you get the picture. It's like Bubba on Forest Gump with all his shrimp recipes, endless!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was the cheese slicer or egg slicer. But no one has said kitchen aid yet, is that too big for a gadget?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kitchen gadget... do I have to pick just one?!? Let's see of course I love thing that opens jars for me when I finally have to admit that I'm not strong enough, and of course that nifty avocado slicer. Then there's the environmentally friendly pump action oil sprayer from Pampered Chef but I think the one thing that I could not live without would have to be my Kitchen Aid mixer. But then of course I do love my "rabbit" cork screw because we all know that it's just not as much fun to cook without that glass of wine close by.
ReplyDeleteI can never get enough good spatulas, for whatever reason the two "good" ones are always dirty in the dishwasher. My second favorite is a rectangular thin metal scraper that I use on my cutting board with a couple purposes - one is to cleanly scrape the cutting board between chopping vegetables. The other is to carry the cut item to the saute pan... very useful though I wish I knew the proper name.
ReplyDeleteDoes a wine opener count? Because, if so, it's my my Rabbit Wine Bottle Opener. So quick and handy. Otherwise, I might have to go with the rubber disk that we use to help get a grip and twist open pickle jars and the like. Helps me act manly while protecting my sensitive artist hands.
ReplyDeleteHmm - Gadget? As in, totally unnecessary, but love having it? Tie between the "milk foamer" (aka cheap version of emersion blender) for making salad dressings and "Mr. Graty", one of my dad's many 2am infomercial purchases for me. It's like a small chopper, but is instead a cheese greater. I store my parm inside and just twist away when I want some. I like a lot of parm, so it's much more convenient then getting out the big hung and grating it on the hand held and comes out much more refined looking than sticking it in the mini-quisanart.
ReplyDeleteBut if you want to really know what I love in my kitchen, it's my thermadore gas oven. It's the only great thing we have in our kitchen and it's fantastic! Everything from extra-low burners up top to a broiler below that will sizze the steak in 3 minutes flat.
The egg slicer is a godsend for making sandwiches!!

I just discovered CSN stores this year; love the baby stuff! So my fav kitchen gadget is my husband when he decides to cook. :) If that doesn't count, I love my foreman grill. Love them fast easy dinners!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure this qualifies but Kitchen scissors - it is seriously my can't live without. The kind that pull apart so you can put them in the dishwasher. Cutting chicken, pizza, and just cutting up anything in general. Nothing is easier.
ReplyDeleteLemon Zester! If I am using the lemon zester I am probably making lemon bars and I do love the lemon bar recipe with the cream cheese....
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is my new Vita Mix for making yummy smoothies, soups all-ready hot, hummus, dips, sorbet- using many healthy ingredients and some not so. Emily - I also couldn't live without my
ReplyDeleteLe Creuset Dutch oven. This is a great give away!!!
My Cuisinart stainless electric kettle - I use it daily!
ReplyDeleteMy wife loves the potato ricer that my sister gave her for Christmas. My favorite is the "rabbit ear" corkscrew. It make it so easy!
ReplyDeleteNothing chops leafy herbs like a Mezzaluna.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kitchen implement is my mini food processor ....and my large spoon spatula.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kitchen item is our white Emile Henry Salt Pig. It keeps the salt handy and though mine isn't even Pig shaped - I can't help but smile at the name, "Salt Pig", every time I go in for a pinch. Overpriced, probably. Unnecessary, definitely. But I absolutely don't know how I ever lived without it. Oh, and our yellow Le Creuset Dutch oven - best one-pot meal pot EVER!
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen aid mixer, without a doubt. I use it almost every day.
ReplyDeleteMy kitchen scissors!! I use them to cut pizza, to trim meats, open packaged items--they're the best!
ReplyDeleteThe "kitchen gadget" I use daily is our "La Spaziale" espresso machine. What encouragement for getting out of bed in the morning!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kitchen gadgets are my micro-planers. How did I ever make it without them. They make quick work of lemon and limes as zesters, and are perfect for grating up garlic cloves and onions because it make the grate so fine and gets those juices too. Simple couldn't live without them.
ReplyDeleteI love my griddler. It makes the best paninis.
ReplyDeleteYes, completely agree that the micro-planer and egg and cheese slicers are worth their weight in gold. But considering functionality, simplicity, form-factor, ergonomics, quality, price, and flat-out sex appeal – for me, it has to be the souvenir Hawaiian Tiki beer-bottle opener I picked up on my honeymoon. Every time I use it (and I use it a lot) (an awful, AWFUL lot), it brings a little ray of sunshine and fond memories straight from the Kona Coast. But without the sandy mess. And, if that weren’t enough, it also doubles as an ice pick when we’re mixing up some magic at cocktail hour. Finest investment I’ve ever made.
ReplyDeleteMy kitchenaid blender is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteGotta be my OXO apple slicer...used for many different fruits daily...a must with kiddos.
ReplyDeleteMy Favorite? My wine preservation system connected to an argon gas cylinder. I am always smiling about 20 minutes after using it. It gives us an excuse to open a pretty good bottle on a week night knowing it will be spread out over 2 days (only half price each night).
ReplyDeleteHmmm. There are too many gadgets clogging up my gadget drawer so I will not comment on those. I love my Le Creuset dutch oven, it is huge (size 30), I am going to make a double batch of beans in it today. I got it for Christmas and now I want more!
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of gadgets, but one I like is our Food Saver 'Seal-a-Meal' so we can freeze Tom's awesome smoked ribs, chicken, turkey and whatever else he comes up with! It still has the yummy smokey flavor when pulled from the freezer!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is quickly becoming my All Clad 12" nonstick skillet. The other day it reconfirmed its awesomeness when I was able to make "Skillet Lasagna" in 25 minutes, start to finish. I’ll never make the 2-3 hour, labor intensive, makes-me-want-to-pull-my-hair-out lasagna again.
ReplyDeleteBased solely on amount of use I'd say my favorite gadget is my Nespresso Machine with it's practically no clean up morning espresso shots. With a 2.5 year old it's the only way I will get my morning coffee and make it to work on time. Just push the button.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my muddler for making mojitos. Delicious and refreshing.
ReplyDeleteGood tongs. Can't live without them.
ReplyDeleteMy mandolin slicer is my favorite kitchen gadget. I make lots of perfectly portioned garnishes and not to mention perfect fries...Got to have that one!
ReplyDeleteHi, I came over from This Week For Dinner. My favorite gadget changes regularly, but I am constantly enamored by my hand mixer. I use it to blend soups, Norwegian pancakes, small smoothies. Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt might be impossible to pick my one favorite kitchen item but the first one to pop in my head just now was my Pampered Chef Deep Covered Baker. It will help so much this summer not having to cook everything in the oven!!
ReplyDelete....hard to pick a favorite... tongs, immersion blender, food processor, silicon food brushes... now I want your zester!
ReplyDeleteHi, Emily
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting! (please do try the blueberry cake...it's wonderful). Other than my microplane, my favorite kitchen gadget is either the heat diffuser that sits on my gas burner and keeps my stews from scorching or (probably this one) a nonstick pie dough rolling mat that I got from the King Arthur catalog. I've never made a pie, but I make lots of rolled-out sugar cookies and they don't stick. It makes the whole process so much easier and neater.
Audrey
I totally love my Kitchen Aid...although the immersion blender is a close second.
ReplyDeleteHard to pick a favorite. I think I will go with the juicer. Fresh juice in the morning is awesome.
ReplyDeleteEmily,
ReplyDeleteYour recipes look terrific. Do they come with a chef for the cooking impaired??
My favorite kitchen gadget is the new kitchen thermometer my husband got me for our anniversary. It takes temps of anything I'm cooking incredibly fast. I'm not sure how I managed to cook things without it, as I'm now completely addicted!

Kitchen Aid Mixer! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is my rice cooker...I guess you could call that a gadget...I just got a fancy new pressurized one. I'm glad I found your blog!
ReplyDeleteIs it okay to say my favorite kitchen gadget is my husband? As you know, Em...I'm a bit domestically challenged, but Todd can work a panini maker & that chopping gaget thing like no other. :)
ReplyDeleteI thought about this for days - which one? I lined up all the favorites; each of them pleading, "Pick me!" "Pick me!" The Magic Mill grain grinder, Kitchen Aid Mixer, Petite Cuisinart, my favorite old J.A. Henckels Knife. I use them each day, all very dear to me. In the end I chose the Magic Bullet Express Blender. Mostly because it's so tiny. I don't like anything on my counter tops at the end of the day and this little beauty just pops into the cupboard like a dream!
ReplyDeletepineapple cutter.....for shizzle
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kitchen item would have to be the apple slicer... makes cutting apples so easy! (or maybe i'm just lazy :))
ReplyDeleteonly if it comes with a cooking lesson from you!!! I will bring the wine!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gadget is my spring-form pan. It lets me make that wonderful flourless chocolate torte Emily loves so much!
ReplyDeleteUnderapreciated kitchen gadget: scissors! I use it for everything but especially getting that perfect consistency with fresh herbs like parsley.
ReplyDeleteMy most loved kitchen gadget? So hard to choose... probably my food processor! I use it for so much more than I ever realized I could...
ReplyDeleteHi Emily, thanks for stopping by my blog earlier and nice to meet you. Oh, what a beautiful giveaway you're having here. My favourite kitchen gadget...hoping to own a KITCHENAID mixing machine and a highspeen food processor/blender & grinder. But most of all is to have a larger oven to place in my kitchen! haha.... Never get enough, right! It's all in my wishlist. hehe... Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Kristy
p/s hope to hear from you more often!
My favorite is my rice cooker. We use it more days than not!
