Hot Cocoa with Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Marshmallows

I did something very dangerous. I went to Trader Joe’s with no shopping list or agenda. It started out well, I went straight to the produce section and picked out veggies to complete the salmon stir-fry I had planned for dinner.

Then things went downhill fast. ‘Tis the season and I’m a big sucker for all their new holiday products. Gingerbread mix? Yes please, I’m sure I’ll want to make a gingerbread trifle this season. Advent calendars? Why not… I get them for our nieces and nephews, Curtis and I should have a fun countdown to Christmas too. Candy Cane Joe Joe’s? I was able to pass (this trip). I’ve already had them several years in a row and know they are delicious and I can consume several in one sitting.

And then I found the Dark Chocolate Minty Mallows. All year long my Starbucks drink is either an Americano or double tall nonfat latte. But when we get into the season of red cups, I can’t resist peppermint mochas. The red sprinkles make me really happy. Immediately I was having visions of sitting in front of the fire with dark chocolate covered peppermint marshmallows floating in a mug of hot cocoa – How could I resist? The entire box of marshmallow goodness cost less than one Starbucks drink. I may be paying for this come January, but I think it’s worth it! It was all I expected and more.

What’s your best Trader Joe’s find?

  2. Delightful post! Those sound perfect, as even I, the one who isn't a chocolate lover, cannot resist the peppermint mocha. I also love the gingerbread loaf, so I support all of your purchases! Happy Holidays Ms. Swanky!

  5. I went to trader joe's yesterday without a plan and I think I may have picked up nearly every item along that aisle with the sweets. I did manage to fend these off but now it looks like I need to go back! Did you see the tin of peppermint hot chocolate? I figured my daughter needed it so I grabbed one. I adore the peppermint pretzels there. Salty and sweet and the sea salt caramels are quite nice too. LOL...the list goes on. This looks and sounds fabulous.

  8. Trader Joe's hasn't made it to Alaska yet, but lucky for me I am spending the holidays in Santa Fe where there is one. Minty, chocolate marshmallows are on my list.
