August 5th marked our 5 year anniversary and Curtis and I used it as an excuse to spend the entire month celebrating.
The real day fell on a Friday, which is always nice, and per tradition we enjoyed a great dinner at home complete with champagne and red wine.
The following weekend we went back to where it all began for a sunset dinner at the Summit House at Crystal Mountain. It’s the first time we’d been back since our wedding and it was as breath taking as we remembered. Since our wedding, Crystal has added a gondola (I don’t think our wedding guests would have had nearly the same experience if they hadn’t had to ride two chair lifts to the top of the mountain!) and renovated the summit house.
It was really fun to be back up there again and we were treated to a nice three course dinner and had the best seats in the house. We’re planning to go back next year, but will pack our own picnic and bottle of wine to enjoy, while watching the sunset, at the top.
And because we departed from our wedding in a helicopter, we always said we’d go on another ride for our 5th anniversary. The last weekend in August we chartered a helicopter from Boeing Field and flew up over Snoqualmie Falls, our house, the middle fork of the Snoqualmie River and a little way up the pass. It’s amazing seeing the beautiful area we live in from a whole new point of view. The ride was so much fun and we’re already talking about wanting to it again.
We saw instructions for the correct way to fly hanging up at the helicopter place, so we knew we were in safe hands.
We feel very lucky to have a special occasion to recognize and celebrate!
Time has gone so fast, but I’ve enjoyed every moment being married to my best friend. He’s truly the best of the best. We’re both looking forward to many more years and adventures!
